Mike Brunetto is an operational risk management professional with more than 25 years’ experience in the Banking and Insurance sectors. He is also a committed advocate and advisor for genuine inclusion and influencing a meaningful transition to adulthood for families and those with disabilities.
As both a parent and advocate, Mike is passionate and deeply committed to removing barriers and creating communities where individuals with complex and high support needs have opportunities for equitable inclusion, accessibility and belonging throughout their lives.
Mike is an active contributor to his community. He serves on the Town of Caledon’s Accessible Advisory Committee, supporting efforts to make the community more inclusive and accessible for all residents. He also holds several leadership roles within the education community, including Parent Chair of his local secondary school council, a standing member of the Special Education Advisory Committee, and a member of the Central Committee for Catholic School Council.
His long-standing contributions to the education and caregiver communities, has also led to him taking a leadership role in a family engagement network, advocating on issues important to individuals with disabilities and their families, including enhanced and person centred day time programs into adulthood, independent and assisted/supported living, and meaningful community belonging;
Mike and his wife are the parents of two young adult sons. Their, oldest is actively pursuing studies in the medical healthcare sector while their younger son has multiple exceptionalities and is preparing for his own transition to adulthood in the community. That lived experience as a parent continues to shape Mike’s commitment to helping build communities where people with disabilities lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
