Ontario School Inclusion Survey

survey on the school experiences of students with disabilities in Ontario

What is the survey about?

Community Living Ontario is partnering with Jess Whitley at the University of Ottawa to conduct a study to better understand children with disabilities’ school experience. We are interested in hearing about your child(ren)’s experiences, including specific questions about exclusion, seclusion, and restraint.

Who can take part in the study?

The study is for families whose child(ren) are attending school in Ontario this school year (September 2025 – June 2026), whether or not they have experienced exclusion, seclusion or restraint.

How would I take part?

We have a survey and an option for an interview. Families can do either or both of these. The survey will take between 5 and 25 minutes to complete, depending on your experiences and how much information you choose to share. The interview usually takes about 30 minutes and would be virtual (Zoom or phone).

The information you share is completely anonymous and confidential.

Will I be paid to do the survey or interview?

To thank you for your contribution to the research project, you will be given the option to enter your name in a draw for several prizes of Amazon gift cards.

Who can I contact for questions?

If you have any questions about the study, you can contact Jess and her team at inclus@uottawa.ca or Shawn Pegg at Community Living Ontario at shawn@communitylivingontario.ca or 416-447-4348.
