Maahil Arshad (He/Him) is a dedicated board member of Community Living Ontario who embodies the organization’s vision of a society where people with intellectual disabilities belong, are respected, and are given equal opportunities for growth. Deeply committed to advocacy, Maahil has dedicated his career to promoting inclusion and empowerment.

His journey with Community Living Ontario began at the Family Engagement Series event in Alliston, where hands-on volunteer experience equipped him with essential community engagement skills and reinforced his belief in the organization's mission. As co-chair of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC), Maahil has played a pivotal role in overseeing workshops on inclusive education and mental health. He also enriched the conversation around digital accessibility by presenting at the 70th CLO Annual Conference on “Beyond Accommodation: Advancing Accessibility and Inclusion for Individuals with Disabilities in the Digital Age: A Universal Design Approach,” and revitalized the committee’s social media to boost membership and share their progress.

Maahil’s background in neuroscience, highlighted by his participation in the SickKids Summer Research Program and his study on the genetics of Autism Spectrum Disorder, offers him a unique, data-driven perspective on merging scientific discovery with social impact. His practical experience as a community coach in Sault Ste. Marie, where he mentored youth with disabilities in their first job experiences, further underscores his commitment to creating supportive and inclusive environment.

Through his combined expertise in scientific inquiry and grassroots advocacy, Maahil brings a balanced and innovative approach to the Board. His work reflects a deep dedication to advancing the values of Community Living Ontario, ensuring that every individual can enjoy respect, acceptance, and meaningful opportunities within the community.
