While the program is well-intentioned, many people with disabilities and their families continue to face barriers when trying to access or benefit from it. These challenges can create exclusion and make it harder for people to get the financial support they need.
Understanding the Abuse and Trafficking of Women and Girls Who Have an Intellectual Disability in Canada: A wealth of research shows that women and girls with intellectual disabilities are at very high risk of being abused and trafficked. The research highlights that income security, decision-making support, and access to services are key to preventing abuse and trafficking. To bring light to these issues, Community Living Ontario has reviewed and condensed recent work by experts.
