Just Enough: The Right Mix of Natural Supports, Technology, and Paid Resources
Barriers to people who have an intellectual disability enjoying a home of their own are best overcome by cooperative and deliberate efforts between family members and other natural supports, paid supports (including developmental services agencies), and use of physical and digital technologies.
This presentation features a mix of stories with self-advocates, family members, and developmental services professionals from across the province. They talk about how they overcame barriers and challenged themselves to have ‘just enough’ support. The concept of ‘just enough support’ is about meeting needs without unnecessarily compromising privacy, independence, and control.
The presentation is hosted by Keenan Wellar of LiveWorkPlay in Ottawa and Maurice Voisin of South-East Grey Support Services in Flesherton. Be sure to check out the Just Enough Support video series, which is available at http://justenough.liveworkplay.tv
