James McNamara is the President of Simcoe Community Services and has demonstrated a commitment to the people and families that they serve through his participation on the board. His experience in the Social Services Field as a public servant for over 33 years including working with people with intellectual disabilities brings significant experience in the field to the work that Community Living Ontario does.
James was a Program Manager with the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP) within the Ministry of Community and Social Services. He was responsible for the management and delivery of the ODSP including Income and Employment Supports to people with disabilities. James is a leader and has the proven ability for resource management to accomplish organizational priorities by working with others. He is comfortable empowering others to take leadership roles within the organization and has an aptitude for financial management ensuring appropriate systems are in place to maximize opportunities and minimize issues.
He has proven skills and abilities related to governance and accountability and demonstrated the ability related to service system management by working with both internal and external stakeholders. James also has a further 23 years’ experience in progressively responsible positions including front line service delivery, program supervision and various management positions related to services both directly operated and those delivered via transfer payment agencies. These positions span numerous program areas including Young Offenders, Child and Family Intervention, Children’s Mental Health, Child Welfare and services to people with a developmental disability.
