The Community Living Ontario Foundation is seeking professional who is looking to make a difference 


About us:

The Community Living Ontario Foundation (Foundation) is a non-profit registered charitable organization located in Toronto. The Foundation was created to help Community Living Ontario (CLO) develop additional resources that expand the role of CLO in supporting people who have an intellectual disability and their families.  

CLO is a non-profit provincial association. For over 65 years, we have worked with people who have an intellectual disability, their families and our 100+ member associations. We proudly collaborate with them, along with our national and international counterparts to ensure that people who have an intellectual disability live in a state of dignity and share in all elements of living in the

 

The Impact

CLO works with over 50youth in over 200 schools and approximately 250 families across the province annually to advance inclusion in their own lives and within their communities. CLO advocates for the more than 100,000 children, youth and adults who have an intellectual disability in Ontario. It works with many partners to promote positive change through the development of public policy. In addition, CLO has a digital reach of over 21, 500 people every month. CLO provides expertise and resources, creates public awareness and nurtures family leadership, capacity and innovation.

 

Key Issues for the Foundation:

  1. Funding: to expand and secure stable, reliable funding from a wide network of organizations and individuals to expand our work provincially;
  2. Network building: to grow our existing framework of stakeholders/partners for future collaboration, partnerships and impact;
  3. Communications: to expand our presence and build CLO’s capacity in community;
  4. Board diversity: to enhance our board with directors from diverse backgrounds and experience.


Who we are looking for:

We are looking for a person with a strong educational background, management skills, leadership experience and a collaborative mindset to devote the time and energy needed to participate and help us grow a dynamic new board. We encourage those who have strong communication skills, unquestionable integrity, and are open to innovative and creative ideas to apply. Ideally, you are aware of the issues affecting people who have an intellectual disability in Ontario.   

We are seeking an action-oriented person who is comfortable connecting with others, has a large personal network and the capacity to help fundraise. Expertise in strategic fundraising is an asset.

Expectations:

Board Directors are expected to commit the necessary time to attend board and/or committee meetings quarterly. Meetings and preparation time is approximately six hours a month, plus time for completing committee activities. Directors are expected to review all board materials distributed in advance of meetings.
