QUEEN’S PARK – Immediately following Question Period, Christine Elliott asked for unanimous consent to restrike the Select Committee on Developmental Services so that the Select Committee can release its Final Report. However, the Liberal government voted against the unanimous consent motion.
“I am disappointed that the Liberal government is stalling the release of the Report. Thousands of Ontario families are waiting for it”, said Elliott.
The Select Committee on Developmental Services began its work last October and has travelled throughout the province, hearings from hundreds of individuals and families that there is a clear need for change in the system.
“The Liberals have promised $810 million for developmental services in their budget. The Committee’s Final Report contains recommendations for improvements in the system, which will offer good value for money and ensure that individuals and families receive the supports and services they desperately need. I simply cannot understand why the Liberals refuse to acknowledge the work of the Committee,” concluded Elliott.
