Tyler Backus, Kodie Peekstok and Jonah Logan started yesterday’s paddle in Connaught, Ohio rather than Erie, Pennsylvania as first planned, due to more favourable wind conditions.
The 79-kilometre Lake Erie crossing was the kickoff event to A Million Possibilities Norfolk, a local campaign that will include several other events and activities aimed at raising awareness and funds for both organizations.
Over the coming months, they’re aiming to have the community of Norfolk County perform the equivalent of 1 million oar strokes. Their goal is roughly the number of strokes Colin Sanders will require as part of his Atlantic Ocean crossing in December, which has been dubbed A Million Possibilities: Solo Ocean Row 2017. Sanders, who’s son Jeff is supported by Community Living Campbellford-Brighton, will row 4,000KM from the Canary Islands to Antigua.
Be sure to read next week’s edition of Update Friday for a full recap of the Lake Erie crossing and upcoming events.
