Tributes and Recognition

Community Living Ontario values the many dedicated individuals and groups in our communities, including all people with an intellectual disability.

Every year, Community Living Ontario recognize the remarkable efforts and contributions of individuals and organizations that further the Community Living movement.

We encourage members to nominate and recognize those contributions.

Anne Stafford Light Up the Future Bursary

The Anne Stafford Light Up the Future Bursary is awarded to supported individuals who have an intellectual disability to pursue personal development opportunities through either an education program or a personal interest course.

James Montgomerie Community Award

The James Montgomerie Community Award is presented to an organization that demonstrates leadership and innovation in furthering Community Living Ontario’s mission, vision and goal.

James Montgomerie Honour Award

This award is given to a person who has an intellectual disability who promotes equality of all citizens.

Newsletter/E-newsletter Award

This award recognizes the outstanding efforts in writing and design of local newsletters. There are two categories: general newsletters and individual articles.

Media Award

The Media Award is presented to journalists who have demonstrated excellence in raising public awareness of issues important to Community Living Ontario and help to further the cause of the Community Living movement in print, broadcast (tv/radio) or online media.

Orville Endicott Social Justice Award

This award is presented to an individual who has taken personal action to challenge injustice in our society to better the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

Social Media Award

This award is meant to encourage and recognize excellence in the use of social media by a local association in spreading the messages of Community Living.

Awards of Distinction

From time to time, the Board of Directors of Community Living Ontario also recognizes people and organizations for their unique gifts and compelling contributions to the vision of inclusion and citizenship of people who have an intellectual disability.

Recognition of Lifetime Achievement

This special award is presented on occasion to individuals for their unparalleled contributions to the goals of Community Living Ontario.

Honourary Life Membership

Awarded by the Board of Directors to honour the remarkable contributions of individuals.

William G. Davis Award

This award is named after former Ontario Premier William G. Davis. It has been presented only once, at Community Living Day at the Legislature in May 2005.

Canadian Association for Community Living Inclusive Education Award – Ontario

The Inclusive Education Award is given by the Canadian Association for Community Living to a person or group, in each of the 13 provinces and territories, who has made a meaningful contribution towards inclusion in the education system.
